Quiet Storm. Musical style. DJ information blog.

In 1975, Smokey Robinson produced a lighter and sensual solo disc, entitled A Quiet Storm, which included romantic adult soul songs. Over time, this album gave the name of a musical style and radio formats, which sought to create a similar sentiment. Quiet Storm also came under the influence of the album Marvin Gaye Let's Get It On, instrumental soul Philly and gentle compositions Al Green. In a sense, the emergence of a response quiet storm R & B to the flourishing areas such as soft rock and adult contemporary. Although quiet storm mainly intended for black fans, he possessed the same muted dynamics, relaxed pace and romantic feelings. However, this style also differed  pure exquisite refinement and emotional impulses, which unmistakably pointed to the origin of this style of R & B. Some artists have concentrated their creativity only in that style, but most musicians recorded more fast tracks in addition to the lyrical ballad that fits under this radio format. Quiet storm remained popular since the late 70th before the start of 90th, when R & B has experienced great hip-hop influence - and as a result of the style of quiet storm has not acquired any new followers.
